Hydrogeologist
Mining Operation (Restart & Development Phase)

​​​​​​​The Opportunity
An established mining operation is seeking a Hydrogeologist to lead groundwater and dewatering investigations supporting restart planning and execution.

This role is central to understanding groundwater conditions, developing dewatering strategies, and managing hydrogeological risk as the operation progresses toward restart and long-term production. The position combines hands-on fieldwork, technical analysis, groundwater modeling, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.

This opportunity is well suited for a hydrogeologist who enjoys operating in technically complex environments and contributing directly to mine design and execution decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hydrogeological investigations and dewatering studies
• Design and evaluate dewatering strategies to support mine development and operations
• Oversee field programs including drilling, well installation, monitoring, and pump testing
• Develop and interpret conceptual and numerical groundwater models
• Manage hydrogeological data, reporting, and documentation
• Coordinate with mine engineering, geology, and environmental teams
• Manage consultants, contractors, and technical study scopes
• Support permitting, regulatory engagement, and compliance requirements
• Identify and manage groundwater-related risks that could impact restart timelines

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to a Studies Project Manager or Technical Services Lead
• Works closely with engineering, geology, and environmental teams
• Leads hydrogeological consultants and field contractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in hydrogeology, preferably within mining or large industrial projects
• Experience with groundwater modeling and dewatering system design
• Proficiency with hydrogeological software (e.g., MODFLOW, Leapfrog Hydro, AQTESOLV)
• Understanding of groundwater regulations and permitting processes
• Willingness to be site-based during critical phases of work
