Purchasing Agent
Reports To: Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager / Controller
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to support critical procurement and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for sourcing goods and services, building strong supplier partnerships, and ensuring materials are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively to support ongoing operations.
The Purchasing Agent plays a key role in maintaining operational continuity, optimizing purchasing strategies, and contributing to the overall success of the organization. Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Sourcing
- Source and procure materials, equipment, and services required for daily operations
- Evaluate supplier options and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms
- Ensure purchasing activities align with operational priorities and business goals
Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness
- Support the development of long-term strategic vendor partnerships
Cost Control and Analysis
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and reduce costs
- Analyze pricing trends and purchasing data to support informed decision-making
- Contribute to budgeting and cost management initiatives
Inventory and Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with warehouse, operations, and logistics teams to ensure material availability
- Assist in managing inventory levels and minimizing supply disruptions
- Support timely delivery and movement of materials across operations
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and procurement documentation
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments to understand operational needs and priorities
- Provide procurement support across multiple teams and projects
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline
- 2–5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations
- Industry experience within mining, construction, manufacturing, or industrial operations is highly valued
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards preferred

- Interaction with warehouse and operational teams as part of daily activities
- Occasional travel to supplier locations or operational sites may be required
