Engineering Manager, Infrastructure & Development

Our client is advancing a significant mining project and needs an experienced Engineering Manager to help keep things moving. This is a project development role with a real focus: de-bottlenecking processes, driving decisions forward, and making sure the right technical groundwork is in place at the right time.

You’ll report to the VP of Studies & Development and work closely with the Environmental Manager on shared workstreams. The right person for this role has been in the thick of mining project development before, knows where things typically get stuck, and has the experience and credibility to push through it.

This isn’t a coordination role. It’s for someone who has carried real responsibility across multiple phases of a project’s life, and who takes genuine ownership of getting things across the line.
 

• Lead infrastructure planning for utilities, primarily water supply and power, including sourcing, routing, material transport, permitting considerations, and cost modeling
• Support site and location selection, evaluating infrastructure feasibility across candidate areas
• Contribute to heavy civil scoping and constructability assessments tied to project milestones
• Coordinate with the Environmental Manager on infrastructure siting, regulatory touchpoints, and shared workstreams
• Provide technical input on processing plant infrastructure requirements and how utility systems connect to plant operations
• Identify where studies, approvals, or engineering gaps are creating delays, and take ownership of resolving them
• Prepare technical reports and summaries that support project advancement and internal decision-making
• Keep the VP informed on scope, schedule, and risk as engineering inputs evolve

• 15+ years of experience in mining, surface operations, or related engineering disciplines
• Full project lifecycle exposure, from prefeasibility and feasibility through development, construction, and into operations. Candidates who have walked a project through multiple phases carry a real advantage here
• Meaningful time in project development, whether owner-side, EPC, or EPCM, with a strong preference for candidates who have carried significant responsibility at more than one project stage
• Solid understanding of utilities infrastructure, water and power in particular, in remote or infrastructure-limited environments
• Exposure to heavy civil construction and the ability to engage credibly with civil engineers, contractors, and project teams
• Deep familiarity with processing plant infrastructure, operations, maintenance, and critical utility needs
• Working knowledge of relevant regulatory environments, water rights landscapes, and infrastructure realities in the region
• A practical, get-it-done orientation. This role exists to move the project forward, and the right person will take that seriously

• Owner-side project development experience across more than one mining project
• Experience supporting site selection or location studies in remote or infrastructure-limited environments
• Familiarity with greenfield project development timelines and the decision gates that drive them
• Existing relationships with EPC or EPCM firms active in North American mining

Location: Flexible, with presence in project region as needed
Compensation: $180,000 – $220,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Competitive total package, additional details available upon connection.
