Senior Geophysicist
About the Opportunity
Our client's geophysical services team supports subsurface exploration by running geophysical surveys for clients across mineral exploration, groundwater, geothermal, oil and gas, and carbon storage.
They're looking for a Senior Geophysicist who knows field data acquisition, crew management, geophysical instrumentation, data processing, data modeling, and interpretation firsthand. That expertise should cover one or more of the following survey types: IP/Resistivity, CSAMT, MT, or EM (surface and borehole). Candidates with a background in gravity or magnetic surveys will also be considered. Seismic experience alone isn't a fit for this role right now.
Experience conducting geophysical surveys in the mining exploration industry is highly preferred. Our client works across hard rock mineral prospects, including porphyry, skarn, epithermal, Carlin type, VMS, and orogenic or shear hosted deposits. That background will help you communicate effectively with the client base.
What You'll Do
- Work with clients to understand exploration goals and design surveys
- QC and process data as it comes in from the field, or assist project geophysicists with this effort
- Model data and deliver preliminary results to clients in a timely fashion
- Deliver final data and the data acquisition report to clients in a timely fashion
- Complete interpretation reports
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Geophysics (other degrees may be considered when combined with relevant experience)
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in geophysics
- Prior field experience
- Experience operating geophysical instruments
- Experience processing geophysical data
- Experience running 2D and 3D inversion models for geophysical datasets
- Experience using Oasis Montaj is desired
Key Skills
- Ability to communicate with clients and design surveys
- Comfortable using Windows and Microsoft Office
- Programming experience is a plus
