To provide direct output support to the VP: Global Category Manager through establishment and maintenance of an effective global commodity strategy for Mining Contractors to achieve lowest total cost.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
- A Legal degree in addition to the aforementioned would be a benefit.
- 10 years of experience in a purchasing and/or purchasing-related role is an advantage.
- Experience and understanding of mining production process / practices and associated cost modelling.
- Experience in a sourcing & purchasing role and working through the supply chain management process with a strong focus on services and competitive analysis.
COMPETENCIES:
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. MS Project experience is beneficial, but not required.
- Proficiency in Talpac / FPC / Candy Software would be an advantage.
- Solid working knowledge of contractor mining including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes.
- Detailed understanding of the interrelationship between discipline related cost drivers and the impact to the operations long term financial results.
- Ability to proactively identify impacts, issues and opportunities associated with changes in other disciplines & vice versa.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the contract management process with strong knowledge & experience in managing contracts from inception through to execution.
- Ability to execute and handle multiple complex contracts simultaneously.
- Articulate (verbal and written) assertive, driven, leader who has experience interfacing with diverse groups of people, including high level executives.
- Preparedness to undertake extensive business travel.
- Ability to think creatively to develop multiple workable options, generating innovative solutions which continuously improve the performance of existing assets, products, services, or processes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Leading value improvements with year over year saving, margin improvements.
- Alleviate commodity risks and focus on development of supplier scorecards for monitoring and measuring performance.
- Execution of GSC strategy, landed cost modelling, contract mining supplier opportunity assessments, supplier financial analysis, negotiations, and long-term contract establishment.
- Continuously maintain and refine an effective global commodity strategy.
- Utilize market intelligence and strategic sourcing principles to drive realization of benefits.
- Maintain and ensure on-going compliance to corporate procedures and standards.
- Continue to create, develop and maintain healthy collateral and cross functional working relationships with regional and operational peers.
- Provide support to VP: Supply Chain by providing timely and accurate reporting of savings and operational performance pertaining to respective commodity.
- Manage and ensure responsible sourcing from global suppliers by ethically sourcing products from across the strategic supply base.
- Promote local supplier engagement and community improvements where the company operates globally.
- Actively participate in the contract, business improvement and productivity review sessions, inclusive of providing feedback and escalation as required.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholders and effectively communicate commodity strategy and outcomes at all levels of the business.
