GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the general direction of the Area Manager, the Mine Superintendent is primarily responsible for managing the daily activities of the mining operations to consistently produce the required pounds of uranium on time at the correct quantity and grade cost-effectively and safely through a motivated workforce
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance by yourself and your employees with all Federal, State, and Company standards, regulations, and legislation.
- Assist with coordination and carrying out emergency actions when directed or per the Mine Emergency Plan.
- Work with technical services, mine planning, and geology to set up short- and long-term mine plans; manage production employees to implement plans and maintain targeted production.
- Communicate with the site team daily regarding issues that will impact production.
- Create weekly, monthly, and annual mine plans; communicate these plans to front-line supervision and follow up daily with status reports.
- Manage the safety process by participating in regular safety meetings and observing employees.
- Engaged in everyday work practices and looking for possible improvements.
- Review production and maintenance reports daily, communicate equipment needs to maintain, and assist mine supervisors in decision-making.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist in completing the yearly budgeting process for the department.
- ATF Clearance is mandatory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- An experienced leader with at least ten years of mine operations management.
- Capital project management experience, with the majority of experience in underground operations.
- Basic Computer skills. Familiar and knowledgeable with Microsoft Word and Excel software, frequently used for accounting, communication, and Inventory.
- A strong communicator: able to delegate production targets to your supervisors and hold them accountable.
- A strong attitude toward Mine Safety and Health Administration. Employees must be MSHA trained/certified.
